Scandinavian Outdoor Store supplies all elements for successful layer clothing! It all starts with a base layer, which wicks away moisture from your skin and, if needed, provides the first thin layer of insulation. In colder weather the next layer is the mid layer, often made of Polartec Power Stretch or a similar stretch fleece. On top of these the shell layer provides wind and moisture protection. Traditional hard shell clothing gives protection from the rain, and soft shell garments offer greater comfort, as well as breathability, often at the cost of moisture protection. The final layer is the insulation layer, most often used in winter conditions and when not actively moving. They provide warmth in camp, and whereas down used to be the one and only choice for insulation layer clothing, modern day synthetic fibers have caught up, providing interesting alternatives.
