Summer Sleeping Bags
Summer sleeping bags come in surprisingly many temperature ratings: the lightest models are best when used indoors or at the height of the hottest summer. The more you go to te North, the more is demanded of your sleeping bag, even in the summer!
Down is still number one when ranking fill materials according to their warmth in relation to packing size and weight. Synthetic filling materials are more affordable and less sensitive to moisture - in damp conditions a synthetic bag will retain more of its insulating capabilities.
It is advisable to store your sleeping bag outside its packing bag - this way its fill material will stay in shape from one year to the other!
