Rubber Boots
Rubber boots have come a long way from yesteryears. The test-winning Nokian Trek Plus, for instace, boasts a high grip, cushioned sole with great torsional rigidity. It also fits much closer than old fashioned wellingtons.
A very special kind of rubber boot is the Nordic style winter rubber boot. Equipped with a removable felt liner bootie, they will also work on multi-day excursions: the felt liner is easy to take out for drying after a long day. Some of these winter rubber boots are also compatible with a special type of ski binding, called the “eräside” in Finnish. This combination of a warm, flexible winter boot and a ski binding in wide, long forest skis is favoured by winter backpackers in forest areas, as well as hunters and trappers.
